As an award-winning filmmaker, Jason Eberly has directed a feature film and over a dozen narrative short films throughout the course of his young career. Five of these films have appeared in over sixteen international festivals, picking up a few awards along the way. In 2009, Jason’s feature film debut, “Nero Bloom: Private Eye,” was screened at an independent theater for two months and won Best Student Feature at the prestigious Cinema City Film Festival.

Currently, Jason is working for the renowned talent agency International Creative Management in Los Angeles and developing projects in the interim. He directed his first post-collegiate project, a high-budget short film titled “Niña Del Tango,” in July 2011. The film is currently in post-production with festival release scheduled for early 2012.

While visiting an art gallery, a young girl becomes fascinated by a beautiful but overlooked painting of a beckoning woman. Sensing the girl’s curiosity, the gallery curator tells her the tale of its origin. The legend speaks of an Argentine painter and his chance encounter with a vibrant tango dancer who captures both his heart and his paint brush. But when she suddenly vanishes, the painter cannot resume life as normal. Obsessed and despondent after losing his new muse, the painter sets off on a quest to find the beautiful girl. What he finds is not at all what he expects; but, surprisingly, may be exactly what he wants.

“Niña Del Tango” is currently in post-production with a festival release slated for early 2012.
Created on a shoestring budget by two Huntington University students, this film is a testament to true independent cinema. With a cast and crew of over 100 volunteers, 23 filming locations, and over 6 months of principle photography, “Nero Bloom” is a rousing example of cinematic storytelling. “Nero Bloom: Private Eye” is now available on DVD!

Critical response:

“There isn’t an element of the film that hits a false note. It is perfectly pitched.” – Catherine Lee (Whatzup Magazine)

“Nothing short of astonishing!”
- Steve Penhollow (The Journal Gazette)

“I have made films for 30 years, and I screened ‘Nero Bloom’ myself. I thought it was brilliantly shot. I loved the black and white, and I thought the art direction was exquisite.”
